A 400-year tradition\, Las Posadas derives from the Spanish word for ‘lodging’ and in this devotion\, refers to the inn from the Nativity story. Explore the richness of this devotional practice and the lesson it has for all of us about making room in our hearts – for the Lord and his people. \nFather Stephen Dudek is a priest of the Diocese of Grand Rapids and has served as diocesan director of Missions since 2009. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from St. Thomas Seminary in Denver and a Licentiate Degree in Theology from the Jesuit-run Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. While in Ghana\, he studied at the Tamale Institute of Cross-Cultural Studies. In 2002 he was awarded a Doctor of Ministry from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. For many years\, he has coordinated pilgrimages of Reverse Mission among the indigenous communities of the Archdiocese of Oaxaca (Mexico). As President of Paulist Productions\, he executive produced more than twenty-five hours of television documentaries including “The Big Question: A Film About Forgiveness” which launched him into a ministry of retreats on the theme of forgiveness and reconciliation. He is the author of “Can You Let Go of a Grudge: Learn to Forgive and Get on With Your Life” from Paulist Press (2014).  He also has an audio series from Learn25\, “Letting Go: Five Steps to Forgiveness.” He holds a B.A. in English from the University of Maryland\, an M.A. in Theology from The Catholic University of America and an M.A. in Communications Management from The Annenberg School at USC. \nStarting as a parish priest in Los Angeles\, Father Desiderio has served as director of campus ministry at UCLA\, director of the Paulist Seminary\, St. Paul’s College\, in Washington\, D.C.\, and director of the Paulist Center in Boston. Currently\, he is First Consultor of the Paulist Fathers and lives in New York City. During the summer\, he serves as director of St. Mary’s of the Lake\, the Paulist summer home. Mike Cruickshank\, CSP is one of the two newest Paulist priests. He was ordained in 2021 and assigned to the Cathedral of Saint Andrews as an associate pastor. He’s still learning the ropes every day and trying to soak up the wisdom of his old(er) brother Paulists. \nFr. Bill Edens\, CSP has been a Paulist priest for over 40 years and is an associate pastor at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew. He is also currently pursuing a certificate in Spiritual Listening. He has a way of energizing those around him\, and when it’s not too frigid outside\, he enjoys long bike rides. \nFr. Charlie Brunick\, CSP is in Senior Ministry here in Grand Rapids and has been a Paulist priest for almost 52 years. An avid historian\, he educates his fellow Paulists around the dinner table about the community’s history. He also keeps busy with lots of long walks. An average day is 15\,000 steps and a good day is 20\,000 steps. \nFr. Joachim Lally\, CSP is in Senior Ministry here in Grand Rapids and has been a priest for almost 57 years. His humor and contemplative spirit bring life to those around him. The problem is that we all know it so well and say it so often that we fail sometimes to allow its images to challenge and transform us. This presentation will situate the Our Father within its context in Matthew’s Sermon on the Mount. We will consider the careful structure of the prayer and then examine the petitions for their comfort and challenge.  We will focus primarily on the petitions for bread\, forgiveness and no “temptation”. \nDr. Timothy Carmody\, Professor Emeritus of Theology at Spring Hill College in Mobile\, Alabama\, is a graduate of the Catholic University of America and a long-time member of the Catholic Biblical Association. In 2018 he was awarded a CCD/CBA Grant by the USCCB for developing and teaching biblical courses in the deacon formation program for the Diocese of Jackson. His book\, Reading the Bible (Paulist Press 2004)\, is a well-used textbook in college courses and Bible study groups. He is also the author of The Gospel of Mark: Question by Question (Paulist Press 2008). DESCRIPTION:With Matthew Jakubisin\, Director of Music  \n(RSVP by Dec. 4)  Zoom Presentation \nAdvent is a time of prayerful preparation\, though as one of the shortest seasons in the Church’s liturgical year\, it is often overshadowed by Christmas shopping and parties. This year can be different. While still experiencing the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic\, our world needs Advent more than ever. By exploring and singing the sacred hymns of Advent\, we will learn how to prepare our hearts with the hope\, peace\, and joy this season offers. CFD: Spirituality ($10 donation suggested) \nMatthew Jakubisin serves as the Director of Music and Organist at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Grand Rapids\, MI. DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, November 11\, 7-8:30pm \nWith Dr. John Pinheiro\, Professor of History\, Aquinas College \nRegistration Required: This will be a Zoom meeting\, a link will be emailed to you.  (RSVP by November 6) \nThe American bishops have called religious freedom “our first\, most cherished liberty.”  This talk will explore the background and goals of the First Amendment and look at key moments in the struggle by Catholics for religious liberty in American  history.  CFD: Spirituality ($10 donation \nrequested) \nDr. John Pinheiro is professor of  history and the founding director of Catholic Studies at Aquinas College\, where he also co-founded the popular Semester-in-Rome.  He is the author of the award-winning Missionaries of Republicanism: A Religious History of the Mexican-American War (Oxford\, 2014).  His    newest book is\, The American Experiment in Ordered     Liberty (Acton Institute\, 2019). \nClick Here to Register
