Understanding and Serving Inactive Catholics

This four-part training series will help you understand and connect with inactive Catholics. The emphasis of the training will be on what is practical for different parish situations. Discover the art of accompaniment through dialogue, invitation, and engagement. Learn how to inspire others by sharing the Gospel in a way that resonates with today’s world, where faith is chosen and embraced anew.  Be renewed as a disciple who lights the path for others to place Christ at the center of their lives.

May 7: Beyond the Pews: Social Dynamics and Engaging Inactive Catholics

May 14: Principles for reaching out and connecting with people inactive in faith

May 21: Pastoral approaches for reaching out and connecting with people inactive in faith

May 28: Organizing a parish ministry to invite and welcome inactive Catholics.

  • Attending the training is free. Pre-registration is required.
  • You can participate in-person at the Catholic Information Center or online through Zoom. To receive the link for Zoom, please pre-register.
  • Sessions will be recorded. If you miss a session, you will receive a link to the recording.

Paulist Father Frank DeSiano, a national leader in Catholic evangelization who has taught, written about, and led many outreaches from Catholic parishes. He has held significant roles, including President of the Paulist Fathers from 1994 to 2002, and consultor for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Evangelization. Father DeSiano is widely recognized for his contributions to evangelization and spirituality through his numerous books, including Beyond the Pews and Sharing Your Catholic Faith: Living as Disciples to Help Spread the Good News (2024).
