LFI Program Testaments

The Leadership Formation Institute is transforming lives by helping Catholics deepen their relationship with Christ, grow as missionary disciples, and discover how God is calling them to lead in their parishes and communities. These participant testimonials offer a glimpse into that journey—sharing personal stories of prayer, discipleship, leadership, and mission. Hear how ordinary people have been formed as disciples and prepared for mission through the Leadership Formation Institute.

Mack from St. Mary Magdalen Parish, in Kentwood, Michigan, shares how the Leadership Formation Institute has helped deepen his prayer life and strengthen his relationship with Christ in everyday life. Through prayer, reflection, and community, Mack has discovered new ways to recognize God’s presence and the movement of the Holy Spirit throughout his day. His testimony highlights the heart of missionary discipleship — that authentic leadership begins with a life rooted in prayer and openness to God’s call. Mack’s experience is a powerful reminder that when we intentionally make space for God, He continues to guide, form, and prepare us for mission.

Doris of Cathedral of Saint Andrew, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, reflects on the importance of accompanying young people with authenticity, compassion, and love. Through her experience in the Leadership Formation Institute at the Catholic Information Center, Doris shares how the Church can better connect with youth by meeting them where they are and helping them encounter the freedom and joy found in Christ. Her witness reminds us that evangelization begins through relationship, listening, and authentic discipleship. As Doris beautifully states, “God isn’t boring at all.” He meets young people in love and calls them into a life of purpose, belonging, and hope.

Frank from St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish in Grand Haven, Michigan, reflects on the everyday call to missionary discipleship and the importance of leading others through authentic witness and trust. Through his experience in the Leadership Formation Institute, Frank speaks about the need to accompany people with compassion, patience, and understanding in a world where many feel distant from the Church. His testimony emphasizes that evangelization is often lived out through simple, faithful encounters that build relationships and open hearts to Christ. Frank’s words remind us that the mission of the Gospel unfolds “one day, one step at a time” as we strive to lead by example in our homes, parishes, and communities.
