Friends of the Center Newsletter – October 2025

October 2025

Dear Friends,

October in Michigan invites us to notice change. The trees shift color. The air sharpens. The light fades earlier. These transitions remind us that reflection and renewal are part of the rhythm of life.

At the Catholic Information Center, this season brings one of our most anticipated events: the 10th annual Gallagher Talk. We are excited to welcome Gloria Purvis to Grand Rapids on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Her keynote – “Compassion in a Divided World” – will explore how our Catholic values can heal and unite. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with heavy appetizers and includes interactive exhibits, space for meaningful conversation, and live music. We have reimagined this year’s event to engage your heart, mind, and soul.

We also invite you to join us for the 55plus program Welcoming the Stranger at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, a presentation by Holy Cross Father John Korcsmar on the spiritual opportunity of welcoming new immigrants. And looking ahead, the Busy Person’s Retreat offers a unique opportunity for reflection and renewal before the holiday season. Join us Sundays at 2 p.m. on Nov. 2, 9, and 16.

Your monthly gift makes this ministry possible. Every donation, no matter the size, makes an impact. Because of your generosity, new voices are welcomed into the Church, individuals are strengthened in their Catholic identity, and lay people are equipped for greater service in their communities.

This month, we ask you to consider a special gift for the Gallagher Talk. Your financial support ensures we can keep this event accessible to all.

As the season turns, we are reminded that change is not only inevitable, it’s sacred. Change invites us to pause, to listen, and to return to what matters most. In this spirit, we are grateful for your partnership with us in the work of renewing faith, hope, and love.

Peace and all good.
